Catch-up funding

Our Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up provides additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who do not achieve the expected standard in reading or Mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2.

Literacy Catch-up

In September 2018, xxstudents came to Bolder Academy having not reached the Expected Standard at Key Stage 2.

We will support these students in the following ways this year:

  • Plan and deliver bespoke intervention sessions to students not making expected progress.
  • Organise students into sets and aim to close the gap by reducing the amount of content and increasing the focus on literacy skills.
  • Liaise with colleagues at Key Stage 2 to ensure a smooth transition, review schemes and gain a better understanding of how SPAG (change acronym)is embedded in primary school.

Track student progress and ensure processes for moderation are in place.

  • Regular check-ins to ensure consistency of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Liaise with SEND department to track interventions.

Numeracy Catch-up

We are yet to confirm the number of  Year 7 with a Key Stage 2 score that did not meet the national expectations, but will publish it here once we open in September.

We will support these students in the following ways this year:

  • Smaller class sizes.
  • Additional support from a progress assistant.
  • Using a variety of resources created in house and by other organisations, we will help these students close the gap.
  • Regular teacher assessments are held to see how students are progressing in numeracy. We use these findings to inform future teaching and learning.
