History at Bolder
At Bolder Academy our History curriculum is designed to develop our students into kind, strong, brave young adults where a Bolder future awaits.
The aims of the History Curriculum
The aims of the History curriculum are to:
How we deliver History
Bolder Academy follows the national curriculum and uses enquiry-based learning.
The four teaching cycles each academic year allow students to ask perceptive questions, think critically and weigh up evidence. Students are also expected to develop perspective and to make reasoned judgements.
Throughout KS3 students revisit time periods in history and supplement their knowledge with a growing appreciation of world events.
Our Intended Impact in History
We will know if we have been successful when our students live and breathe our three core values within the Academy and beyond. When they demonstrate:
Kindness: Showing compassion and empathy when studying historical events, individuals and societies across the world.
Strength: An understanding of the importance of subject-specific knowledge when analysing the past; both within the United Kingdom and of the wider world.
Bravery: By continually developing life skills such as thinking, evaluating, analysing and communicating.
Equally we want to prepare students effectively for the current and next stage in their learning, whether this be GCSE or A Level examination, University study or the world of work. Our regular assessment points allow us to know where individual students are in their learning and to support them towards this point.
